As I type this, I am sitting in a hotel room in ROME, completely worn out from a full day of traveling from Texas to London to Italy followed by a quick bite to eat and a brief walking tour of Rome. BUT, in spite of my exhaustion, I am so thrilled to be here!!
(Drinking from the fountain at the bottom of the Spanish Steps)
(tossing coins into the Trevi Fountain)
Our first order of business in Italy was, of course, food. Where does our tour guide take us?? McDonald's. I can't help but laugh at the fact that the first food I had in Italy was Chicken McNuggets. ...what is this world coming to?
After McDonald's, we came to the hotel just long enough to get our room assignments, drop off our luggage and change out of our travel clothes. Then, we were reloaded onto the tour busses and shuttled to the city. We went to the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona, and had enough time to take in some authentic Italian food (the best pizza I've ever tasted, and UNBELIEVABLY delicious gelato. I'm already having a blast, and I've only been in Rome a few hours!
It's about 11:00 PM here right now, I'm being charged 7 Euros for an hour's worth of internet connection, I've just talked to my mom and Uncle Phil via Skype, and I think I'm FINALLY going to bed after what seems like days since my last restful sleep.
Goodnight All, and expect an update tomorrow :)
